It was hoped that TMOTA 2007 would build on the successful 2005 exercise at Mountain Home, but sadly this was not to be.

Hosted by the historic 79th FS ‘Tigers’, one of the three original founding Tiger squadrons of the NATO Tiger Meet in 1963, TMOTA 2007 took place Nov. 2-8 at Shaw AFB, South Carolina.

Due to unfortunately timed AEF deployments, Inspections and other taskings for units that would usually take part the event shrunk into what can best be described as a ‘mini-meet’ with the 79th and the NATO E-3 of Flying Squadron 1 from Geilenkirchen, Germany being the sole participants of the flying exercise.

However, there were some ‘Tiger’ Air Education and Training Command assets invited to the first weekend’s festivities. The 37th Flying Training Squadron ‘Bengal Tigers’ sent a mix of T-37s and T-6s from Columbus MS. and a pair of T-6s from the 85th FTS ‘Tigers’ made the journey from Laughlin TX.

At this time www.tmota.com is still awaiting news of any trophy winners or indeed hosts for the next TMOTA. We sincerely hope the will and momentum can be maintained to bring TMOTA 2009 back to a full scale LFE exercise, by whoever has the privilege of hosting it.
